It’s a tax-free, one-off grant that is means-tested in line with their grants criteria. To qualify, you should have no more than £16,000 in capital or savings (excluding the home you live in).

Applied and been unsuccessful before? It may be worth applying again if your household income or savings have gone down.

If you applied last year, you will automatically be contacted by the BWC in August, inviting you to apply again this year.

How to request an application form:

Please email with the subject line “Winter fuel grant” and include your full name in the email. Once the BWC receive this, they will reply to you requesting further information.

You can also call the team on 020 3873 8510. They’re open Monday to Friday from 9.00am – 5.00pm (except bank holidays). They are happy to answer any questions and can assist if you’d like help to complete the form.
